I was born in upstate South Carolina and I have always had a passion for art. I started drawing when I was young, still in elementary school. I have never taken any art classes outside of your typical grade school art class, where you could use crayons and finger paint and maybe sometimes a little clay. Later in life, I started experimenting with paints. I started out on round wooden cheeses boxes, painting the lids and decorating the outside, then giving them to people in the family who wanted to use them for storage of personal keepsakes. Now, I will do some occasional work on reclaimed wood, but mostly, I like to create on canvas. I use many different elements in my work. I like to use different types of paint with metal, wood, waxes, glue, spackling compound. Just about anything to give the piece some texture or layers. My favorite thing is abstract painting. But, I also like to do land or seascapes. I don't have a particular process really. I just look at the canvas, pick a few colors I want to start with and just put the brush to the canvas. Most of the time, I have no idea what I am trying to accomplish. I just keep adding until I like what I see. Then, it all starts coming together. My biggest influences in art are the works of Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali.
